SWIFT CANOE PROSPECTOR 16
The Swift Prospector 16 shape is close to the original ‘Chestnut Prospector’ design, and has slightly less rocker than other Prospectors, allowing it to glide and track well on flat water. The Pro 16 is the most stable out of the three sizes of Swift Prospector and with the extra carry capacity, perfect for heavier paddlers and/or camping kit. As with all Prospectors it is very popular due to its general-purpose shape, stability and ease of paddling in most situations. It can be paddled solo or with a 2nd person, and is fine for shorter day trips alongside multi-day camping expeditions. With a moderate rocker the Prospectors are well suited for faster flowing rivers where manoeuvrability and turning ability are sought after attributes (not shallow white-water).
The Swift Prospector 16 is available with two Cherrywood webbed seats as standard, but is also offered a Prospector 16 Combi model, which has a factory fitted third seat. This 3rd seat provides room for a third paddler when required, but is also situated in a really nicely balanced position for solo paddling. To ensure there is enough room to paddle from the 3rd seat, the Prospector 16 Combi does not have a central yoke, and the 3rd seat provides enough strength to preserve the hulls structural integrity.
